Türkiye bids tearful farewell to martyrs of Ankara terror attack in official funeral

ANKARA, TÜRKİYE - OCTOBER 24: Those who were martyred in the terrorist attack on the Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI) headquarters in the Kahramankazan district of the capital city of Ankara were tearfully laid to rest on Thursday, Oct.2 4.The bodies of TAI employees Zahide Guclu Ekici, Hasan Hüseyin Canbaz, and Cengiz Coskun, who were martyred by terrorists at the site of the TAI attack, were brought to the Karsiyaka Ahmet Efendi Mosque.In addition to the families of the martyrs, the funeral prayer, held in the afternoon, was attended by the Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye Numan Kurtulmus, as well as numerous political, military, and bureaucratic officials.The funeral prayer for the martyrs was led by the head of Türkiye's Religious Affairs Directorate, Ali Erbas.Following the prayer, the bodies of the martyrs Ekici, Canbaz, and Coskun were buried in Karsiyaka Cemetery.The families of the martyrs received condolences.An explosion and gunshots were heard Wednesday, Oct. 23, at TAI's facilities in Ankara's Kahramankazan district.Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya said five people were martyred and 22 others were injured in the attack, while two terrorists who attacked the facilities were “neutralized.”Yerlikaya announced that the neutralized terrorists responsible for the attack were identified as members of the PKK terror group.In its more than 40-year terror campaign against Türkiye, the PKK -- listed as a terrorist organization by Türkiye, the US and the EU -- has been responsible for the deaths of 40,000 people.(Footage by Hakan Dündar - Mehmet Bulut - Alican Koç/Anadolu Agency via Getty Images)
