The Scottish City of Dundee has made its final bid for the coveted award of UK City of Culture for 2017. The pitch was made in the Ulster city of Londonderry today, (November 14th) where Dundee faces stiff competition from three other contenders. If it wins, Dundee has planned a full programme of cultural events. TRANSCRIPT One of the major objectives of our going for UK City of Culture is it will have an economic impact. We have invested hugely. The waterfront project is a one billion pound regeneration project. To get the payback, from that investment, to get the payback from the V&A locating in Dundee, something like the City of Culture, the lead up to it and the tailing off of it, would be exactly what the city needs, what the country needs. So in economic terms, it is estimated by the consultants that have been working with us, that there will be about 80 million pounds worth of economic activity. And when you net out what would have happened anyway, there is a potential for about 39 million pounds worth of additional value. And these are significant, very significant for a city of this size.
