Rare Pink Flannel Flowers Bloom Across Blue Mountains One Year On From Devastating Bushfires

Pink flannel flowers are extremely rare and only grow in scattered parts of eastern Australia, from the Blue Mountains to north-eastern Victoria. The seeds can lay dormant for years, only sprouting following a special series of events to create the right conditions for their emergence – a year on after bushfire followed by rainfall. Bushfires burned across the Blue Mountains during the 2019-2020 fire season, with some 80% of the world heritage area damaged during Australia's black summer bushfires which burned across the country.
