CHALCHUAPA, EL-SALVADOR - MARCH 21: Nahua indigenous peoples in El-Salvador welcomed the awakening of earth mother with dances at the foot of a pyramid in the region called 'Tazumal', which houses the ruins of the Mayans. The Nahuas are a group of local peoples in Latin American countries such as Mexico, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua. The locals gather to thank for what they have, on the equinox day as the beginning of the solar new year. Ulises Piche, one of the Nahua dancers, said that the Nahua people all over the world celebrate the spring equinox, which symbolizes the awakening of earth mother in the northern hemisphere. “Because she spent the whole winter asleep and this day she wakes up to take out and the first thing he brings out is the flower and then the rest comes, he is also thanked for all the fruits he has given us and for the sacred rain that has begun to fall,” said Piche. “All the variations of climate that we currently experience is due to the mess that we ourselves make because we do not take care of the environment, we do not take care of nature, we only abuse it and our grandparents had the habit of not abusing it,” said another Nahua dancer Melissa Sanchez.
