CLEAN: Political is personal, in Venice award-winning films
Intensely personal stories of an Israeli soldier at war, and a gay professor in 1960s America, took top prizes at the Venice film festival this weekend, with first-time director Samuel Maoz's Lebanon taking the coveted Golden Lion and Colin Firth getting the nod for best actor in Tom Ford's A Single Man. AFPTV covered the press conferences on Saturday of Maoz, Firth, Turkish-German director Fatih Akin, who took the special jury prize for his film Soul Kitchen, and Iran's Shirin Neshat, who won the Silver Lion for best director for Women Without Men.
