EXT
Gerry Kelly (Sinn Fein) walking along road (7 secs)
i/c with IRA mural in b/g
- we're a year after the Good Friday agreement / it was a compromise at this time in the struggle to move us towards a united Ireland
BV Kelly away into house
INT
Jean McBride (Mother of Peter McBride who was murdered by two Scots guards) interviewed SOT
- my son was murdered on 4/9/92 by two Scots guards, who were taken thru the courts, convicted of murder, received life sentences & released within six years / the worst thing is, they're back in the army in a different regiment
EXT
Kelly along with Hugh Jordan (Father of Pearse Jordan who was shot & killed in Belfast)
Hugh Jordan (Father of Pearse Jordan who was shot & killed) interviewed SOT
- three bullets were put in his back before he reached the other end of the road / never had any explanation as to why he was shot / only contacted nine months later
i/c
- there are many victims in this conflict, but unionists are trying to ignore the victims of state violence, but these things cannot be ignored / the unionists are trying to renegotiate the agreement at a public level, instead of at the negotiating table where it should have been negotiated
BV Kelly away
i/c
- we're standing at the memorial in the New Lodge (phon) / it's appropriate to end the report here because it shows we have a vested interest in resolving the conflict & resolving the political issues that created it & that we were elected to do so / we gave a commitment in the Good Friday agreement that we would implement the whole agreement / I think we have upheld our part of the agreement but have the unionists implemented their part of it?
