SAO JOAO DEL REI, MINAS GERAIS, BRAZIL - 2023/04/25: A small cell dedicated for prayers is seen. The inmates can go there whenever they want. In São João del-Rei in the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil, is a prison without weapons or guards, run by the Association for Protection and Assistance of Convicts (APAC) a Christian organization that aims to return dignity to the inmates. The method seeks to make prisoners more responsible by imposing strict timetables and compulsory religious observance. The experience is an exception in the Brazilian prison system.
