It crosses the Nieuwe Maas river in the center of Rotterdam, connecting the north and south parts of this city, second largest in the Netherlands.Behind the bridge looms De Rotterdam, a building on the Wilhelminapier, designed by the Office for Metropolitan Architecture, a Dutch architectural firm based in Rotterdam, founded in 1975 by Dutch architect Rem Koolhaas and Greek architect Elia Zenghelis, along with Madelon Vriesendorp and Zoe Zenghelis.
