Queen Anne of Great Britain 17th century reign - Stockillustratie

Queen Anne of Great Britain (1665 – 1714) was the last British monarch of the House of Stuart. She was succeeded by her second cousin, George I of the House of Hanover. The engraving was made in 1873, and includes a significant moment in her reign in the cartouche at the bottom. Description of this engraving: (Top) Coat of arms including the harp of Ireland, the lion of Scotland and the three lions of England surrounded by a belt (Left bearer) Man wearing stylish 17th / 18th century Renaissance soft, over-the-knee cavalier boots, and a tricorne / tricorn hat, a style that was worn by both military and civilian men. This bearer also bears a sword, while holding a document in the left hand and some form of instrument (telescope?) in the right. (Right bearer) Lady in classic flowing dress holding a bugle in the left hand and draped with the words BLENHEIM - RAMILIES (Blenheim was a successful battle fought in 1704. Ramillies was a battle fought and won in 1706.) (Bottom cartouche) Shows fighting around a table with swords and daggers.
