Eukaryotic Cells from a Plant (Elodea sp) showing Chloroplasts and Cell Walls, 100X. This image shows distinct cell walls (characteristic of plant cells) and numerous chloroplasts that contain the green pigment chlorophyll and carry on photosynthesis. Elodea is a waterweed and many biology students observe cells like these in their microscopic preparations. Eukaryotic cells are more advanced than Prokaryotic cells--eukaryotic cells have the genetic material (e.g. DNA) located in the nucleus which is lacking in prokaryotic cells. The nucleus is not very evident in these cells.
