The green CHLOROPLASTS contain the green pigment CHLOROPHYLL which traps sunlight, and with Carbon Dioxide and Water synthesizes carbohydrates like Glucose and releases OXYGEN as a byproduct in the complex metabolic process called PHOTOSYNTHESIS. This image utilized the aquatic plant Elodea in a wet mount microscope slide preparation.
