ICE Arrests Undocumented Immigrants In New York City

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), officers try to locate a wanted undocumented Mexican immigrant at his Bushwick apartment before arresting him early on April 11, 2018 in the Brooklyn Borough of New York City. The arrest was part of a large scale operation, launched throughout the five boroughs of NYC and was one of the biggest such ICE ops in NYC in recent years. ICE brought in officers from Field Offices throughout the northeast for the six-day op, which captured hundreds of immigrants with invalid legal status. ICE detentions, which usually lead to deportation proceedings, are frequently controversial in New York, which is considered a 'sanctuary city' for undocumented immigrants.
