Local elections: Ed Miliband campaigning in Newcastle; Ed Miliband MP (Labour Leader) speech SOT - Nick Clegg promised people in Newcastle he would stand up for young people / Clegg has betrayed those promises, betrayed our young people, betrayed people on the economy and VAT and betrayed people on the NHS / the Liberal Democrats have been increasingly seen as locked in the boot of this Conservative-led government / we now hear some muffled sounds from the boot, they want to distance themselves from this government, it won't wash with people / he has been propping up this government / my appeal to Liberal Democrat voters is to come home to Labour, this local election is an opportunity to send a message to the government in London that they are cutting too far and too fast / only one party is standing up for young people, against unfairness of Conservative-led government and against changes to NHS - the Labour party / Labour councils can make an enormous difference / these elections are crucial / opportunity to send a clear message to this Conservative-led government and Nick Clegg / Clegg is making a speech today in which he's trying to say the cuts are Labour's faults / that's a disgrace, he should accept responsibility for the cuts, planned in Downing Street by him and Cameron
