Mental Health in Colorado
DENVER, CO. - JUNE 16: Edna Abraham Gezahegne writes down information about the Denver Rescue Mission to a homeless man in Skyline Park in Denver, CO, June 16, 2014. She said, "I told him the positive things that could happen there. I offered to take him but he didn't want to go now, it might take a day or two but he might go." Besides being a peer specialist at the Arapahoe-Douglas Mental Health Network, Edna does her own outreach work on her free time for very personal reasons. She has been hospitalized 15 times herself and diagnosed with bipolar disorder, depression, schizophrenia and schizoaffective disorder on different occasions. "I want to give back to people who are homeless and helpless," she said. (Photo By Craig F. Walker / The Denver Post)
