Guetersloh Region To Go Into Lockdown Following Over 1,500 Confirmed Covid-19 Cases
GUETERSLOH, GERMANY - JUNE 23: A worker with the German Red Cross (DRK) dressed in full PPE takes a throat swab sample from local resident Arsalan, 6, in the village of St. Vit following a Covid-19 outbreak at the nearby Toennies meat packaging center during the coronavirus pandemic on June 23, 2020 near Guetersloh, Germany. State authorities announced today they are placing the entire Guetersloh region into lockdown following confirmed Covid-19 infection in over 1,500 employees of the plant. The Bundeswehr, the German armed forces, has stepped in to help test people at the approximately 250 houses and apartment complexes where Toennies employees, many of whom come from Romania, Bulgaria and Poland, live throughout the Guetersloh region.
