TO GO WITH AFP STORY "CHINA-QUAKE-SOCIAL-WOMEN-POPULATION,FEATURE" by Marianne Barriaux Ren Yunhui, 38, holds her nine-month-old baby daughter at her home in remote Shihua village, in the southwestern province of Sichuan on June 9, 2010. Shattered by the death of her daughter in China's 2008 Sichuan earthquake, it took Ren Yunhui six months to even think about having another child, but she is now the proud mother of a baby girl. Since the devastating 8.0-magnitude earthquake in May 2008 that left 88,000 dead or missing, and around 18,000 families childless, more than 2,000 babies have been born to women who lost their children, thanks to a government programme that includes artificial insemination and free medical treatment.
