Pavona clavus, the Shoulderblade coral or Potato coral occurs in the tropical Indo-Pacific in a depth range from 0-65m. In the bay of Ngerchong Island there is a very large colony of this coral species, perfect habitat and shelter for many species. A school of Two-Spot Snappers Lutjanus biguttatus, some Shoulderbar Soldierfishes Myripristis kuntee and some Sammara Squirrelfish Neoniphon samara. Lutjanus biguttatus occurs from 3-36m, max. length 25cm, common 15cm. Myripristis kuntee occurs from 0-65m, max. length 26cm, common 16cm, Neoniphon samara occurs from 0-46m, max. length 32cm, common 23cm. The spine at the corner of its preopercle is venomous.
