Koh Lanta, Thailand - October 16, 2016: The Nine Emperor Gods Vegetarian Festival (known as Thetsakan Kin Che in Thai), is celebrated by Thais of Chinese ancestry. This abstract image was taken at the festival for the Koh Lanta, Krabi region. Through strong spiritual beliefs, these men aim to purify the soul and body, ensuring prosperity and long life. These participants, known as Spirit Mediums, allow themselves to be possessed by deities. Wearing traditional dress and in a trance like state, they take part in various performances. This festival takes place annually, during the first 9 days of the 9th Chinese lunar month (late September or October).
