Japan's Ruling Camp Rams Security Bills Through Key Panel

TOKYO, JAPAN - JUL. 15: More than 1,000 people gathered in front of the parliamentary building in Tokyo on July 15, 2015, to oppose the Liberal Democratic Party-led ruling coalition's controversial security bills. The LDP and Komeito pushed the bills through a House of Representatives panel, paving the way for passage by the lower house as early July 16 amid strong objections from opposition parties and rising concern among the public. The bills would allow Japan to come to the aid of allies such as the United States when they come under armed attack, even if Japan itself is not attacked.
