Aerial Footage Captures Ghostly Beauty Of Withered Forest In Yoshino-Kumano National Park
Aerial video footage taken from a drone flying above Yoshino-Kumano National Park, encompassing parts of Nara, Mie and Wakayama prefectures, shows an area of withered and fallen coniferous trees on a pass near Mount Odaigahara that was once a forest until it was leveled by a powerful typhoon in 1959.Video was shot on October 26, 2017, Japan.
In the aftermath of the typhoon low growth vegetation took hold of the area, which in turn brought in deer that fed new conifers attempting to grow. Attempts are being made to bring back trees to the area by surrounding them with fences.
