Bundeswehr Commissioner Presents Annual Report

BERLIN, GERMANY - JANUARY 25: Hellmut Koenigshaus, Bundestag-appointed Commissioner for the Bundeswehr, Germany's armed forces, presents his annual assessment report on January 25, 2011 in Berlin, Germany. Koenigshaus's report, which highlights shortcomings as well as criticism from within the ranks of the Bundeswehr, comes on the heels of a series of mishaps within the German military, including the accidental shooting of a German soldier serving in Afghanistan, the revelation that mail from a contingent of German ISAF soldiers had been opened and in some cases confiscated, as well as the accidental death of a female sailor and the possible ensuing attempted mutiny on the tall-mast training ship Gorch Fock.
